Hello
I'm in the process of learning assembly(have been using basic).
Can someone reccommend a decent programmer, perferably
on that is inexpensive to purchase or assemble for the PIC16f628.
Another issue is what software is easiest to learn on. I've seen
a couple of free ones on the forums and the web. Any suggestions
on this would be a huge help. If it helps to understand where I'm
starting at, I'm currently reading "Programming and Customizing
PICmicro Microcontrollers" by Myke Predko. I'm open for suggestions
to other books,websites,etc.

Thanks in Advance
Gordon

yeah sardineta is correct..
MPASM is what you need for assembling Pics , and its free from microchip..it comes with MPLAB..

I have a copy of that book sittin' right in front of me!! I'll tell you if you can read the book and understand everything he writes in it you deserve a medal. (its over a thousand pagse long)

That book is more on the internal structure of PICs than actually teaching you to program. Yes you can learn how to write code from it but most of it is too advanced for a beginner.

Head to this website: www.winpicprog.co.uk and click on tutorials. This is a decent course for the beginner.

Good luck
