I have an old dell latitude c640 that can't hear the dial tone.
Is there a direct connection between the phone jack and internal modem or is there a buffer circuit between jack and modem. There is no measurable continuity between them.
I don't want to disassemble the laptop just to trace the wires. Maybe I should try another modem.
