If the motor is DC, Google "PWM" (Pulse width Modulator), "Light dimmer" (DC) etc.
In addition to the type of motor, a few more details would be helpful, such as voltage, power, number of motors, if more than 1, is this project for a school/science fair demonstration only, or an actual real-world project.
