could someone describe what junction rectification means please.

i came across the electronic circuit schematic archive at **broken link removed** after searching google for a bit. started flicking though them and came across the words junction rectification but have no idea what it means. Thought i'd ask

Junction Rectification is an effect which occurs at the junction of two different materials, usually a metal or metallic compound.

Rectification is the property where an electric current flows through a device in one direction only.

Look here for some information on semicondictor diodes, which are junction rectifiers.
