For those who haven't heard yet, I regret to inform you that Canadian musician, Jeff Healey, died yesterday. Internationally, most people will likely recognize Healey as the roadhouse guitarist in the movie, Roadhouse, starring Patrick Swayze.

For Canadians, including me, Healey was and will continue to be an icon of good grace and great musicianship. His ability to rock-out was only surpassed by his ability to swing hard. For anyone who was never blessed with seeing Healey perform hot jazz live, as a guitarist or trumpet player, I recommend that it will be well worth your while to find some recordings or videos.

Healey was always well-spoken, and his blindness never interfered with his ability to be articulate. His radio and television appearances were always enlightening, and his efforts to inform and produce music even of other artists was apt and timely. He was always well-mannered and respectful of his audiences, and most of all, Healey always made music seem exciting and interesting.

R.I.P., Jeff.
