isn't displacement negative?

Look at the diagram.

Q is still on the positive side of the origin, so the displacement (ie it position with respect to the origin) is positive.

Simple.

Sorry. I forgot that displacement's direction is defined with reference to some point, not with reference in which direction movement is taking place.

And since this is a sine wave, it will be positive in the first and second quarters, and negative in third and fourth quarters. (Remember All, Sine, Cosine, Tan)

YES! that's it, I'm always forgeting 3rd or 4th is the sosine as it is always (in my mind) follows sine.
