Is this a float charger or trickle charger ??

i took it out of an emergency CFL light system.
its sla is dead i think. so the owner of it threw away it in his garage :p i found it an thought of using its charger to charge 6v sla batteries of mine :p
but i need a float charger and i dont know how to find out whether this is a float charger or a trickle charger or a step charger or a constant current changer or somthing else :p :( i am not good with electronics :p but interested to learn little bit of it :p )
 
Judging by all of the dead lighting and uninterruptable power sources I see, I think that the people who build them do not have a clue!

Only way to tell is to hook it up to your unloaded SLA, run it for up to 24hours while watching the SLA terminal voltage. Make note of the voltages every hour or so. If after 24 hours it settles out at more than 6.85V (at 25degC), then it is not suitable for long-term floating.

Your meter should be accurate to 1%. Report back with the voltage vs. time data.
