Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience that combines the real world and computer-generated content.

The content can span multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory.

[1] AR can be defined as a system that incorporates three basic features: a combination of real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects.

I know augmented reality benefits like increase in user engagement, best user experience, boost in business, brand awareness and it sets you apart from competitors. My question is that is augmented reality really helpful in retail and e-commerce?

Is there anyone who can guide us about this either we should opt it or not?

It may one day become useful - when there are cheap, practical, lightweight and non-intrusive AR viewing devices available.

At present it's either use a phone or tablet to see the AR overlays, or wear a massive and expensive headset/visor.

Totally impractical, other than for very specialist applications.

My company is in the test phase of using AR overlays on cell phone to display locate data collected by gps.
I have also seen videos where forensics use it to capture crime scenes, and real estate use it to give 3d house tours.

but as mentioned it is big and bulkey, and expensive for both host and client. this is why its not main stream yet.
Same reason why the internet is not a virtual 3d world yet, and why i cant walk around this chat room.

Yeah. Agree with the previous comments. Though being used in various fields such as video gaming, healthcare, and online shopping, etc, they still need to be improved/evaluated to reach the standard in the industry. Perhaps it will become more common in the future!

thank you so much for your suggestion

In recent years, the topic of development using augmented reality (AR) has really become very popular. I have seen a lot of startups and solutions for ecommerce. They help to increase conversion rates, increase the average amount of a check, and improve other indicators of business success.

For example, (spammy link deleted - Moderator) allows you to replace interior furniture in real time. It turns out that you don't have to spend a lot of time in the store deciding, "Will this chair fit the table I have at home?" Sounds like a very original solution to me...)
