Is ADG406 from analog device an electronic switch or mechanical switch?

Hi all,

Does anyone know that the multiplexer ADG406 from Analog device an electronic switch or mechanical switch? I mean what's inside the multiplexer, simply a switch or some transistors? Because if it is mechanical switch inside, then I think it can also be used as a demux, is that right?
 
It won't be a mechanical switch, presumably it's a CMOS switch, but these can normally be used either way round.

Thanks for the quick reply. In the manual it specifies like:

44 V Supply Maximum Ratings
VSS to VDD Analog Signal Range

does this mean it works bipolar -22 to +22v or unipolar +44v? And the switch signal can be as high as 44v?
 
Doesn't the datasheet explain further?, usually bipolar switches have a separate -ve supply pin, as well as the +ve and ground.
 
The absolute maximum ratings are just that, the absolute maximums before damage starts occurring. Normally a much more reasonable supply voltage is used like 5v, 12v, or 15v. If you were to run it at 44v, you leave no overhead for any sort of voltage transients that might occur.

If you look at the datasheet, it answers your other question. It can be operated in either single or dual supply mode, and the signal range is from Vss to Vdd.
