Intruder/burglar Alarms

Has anyone come across or know of any intruder alarms based on some sort of motion sensing that triggers sound/light alarm which could work in practice?

I use these PIR's from Amazon.
They have a 3V output when a PIR object is detected, adjustable sensitivity and On period.

The PIR output can drive a transistor/relay combination

you could put one of these on it:

then you could attach a ac120v-12v power adapter to power a common 12v alarm
