The Intel MCS-51 (Micro Computer Series 51) is truly one microcontroller family that has stood the test of time. Although this family of microcontrollers has been around since 1980 (and as such it seems to have developed its own group of haters who really have no valid reason to hate on it other than its age), it remains one of the most popular and widely used microcontrollers still in use today.
