IC555 timers?

In this project https://www.electro-tech-online.com/threads/simple-lie-detector.40/ the 555 timer is a squaire with 4 and 8 at the top but I have an electronic program that I can design schmatics in and all the 555's are rectangle and have all the pins on the long sides.

What I wanted to know is are all 555 timers the same and it does not matter what shape they are?

The picture of the 555 timer is just a representation of the real device. The program used to make the schematics is smart enough to let you put the numbered pins anywhere on the symbol. It can then match the numbers with the correct pins on the real device.
