You'd be surprised as to how much 'statistical data' there is with electronics. Determing errors and error correction is all done through statistical analysis of random processes. Bandwidth requirements for a bitstream involves statistics.

Dont be too quick to say statisitcs is for economics because their are alot of applications that can be considered 'electronics'.
 
Frosty in some applications switch bouncing may not be a problem, in others it may, it's just an example didn't say it had to be practical =) Decimation and averaging oversamples of an ADC are two much more practical applications of statistics.
