help in uln 2803 current

how would i improve the output current of uln2803 for my stepper motor 5.1v 1A.
without changing uln2803?

Have it drive a MOSFET. However, if the current needs exceeded 500 mA (maximum for the ULN2083) you could have skipped the ULN2083 in the beginning and driven a MOSFET. The ULN2083A requires 5 Volts in. A logic level MOSFET requires 5 volts in on the gate.

just keep in mind that the ULN series arrays are open collector devices. To use a MosFet transistor for higher current you must use a P-channel MosFet.
