This is a good one that I thought about building. They have several different frequency counter kits, but this one will allow you to mount everything in a box then just hook it up to whatever and it be just like a commercial one. Just my .02 worth.

Looks nice, but it's basically just a PIC counter (similar to the weedfreq.htm one mentioned above) - however, it does have the advantage of a prescaler which ups the frequency considerably!.

I notice he does quite a range of PIC based devices!.

I was directed to his page before because I am a amateur radio operator and I had several QRP radios that I had built, only one had a frequ. counter and this was done using CW instead of the conventional LCD readout. I wanted something to be sure that I wasn't transmitting out of band limits. I use to have a commercial Yaesu rig, not anymore, that I could check my op frequency with. I haven't built this frequ. ctr yet but it looks really nice!
