Four-Digit Keypad Circuit w/ Relay HELP

Ok, so I'm stumped on what I doing wrong because I cannot get this circuit to work properly for the life of me. I'm trying to construct Ron J's Four-Digit Keypad Circuit.

I constructed the circuit on breadboard. He calls for a SPDT relay, and I am using a DPDT relay. This is where I think I might be messing up. I'm Not 100% on my connections to the relay. I'm using a LM2-12D. The data sheet can be found here.

Other than that, all my components are exactly what he calls for. The make of my components are NTE. I've checked for proper biasing, proper pin configurations, I even changed out capacitors and resistors and the relay since I had two of them.

Once I finished building the circuit on his site, he shows a way to test it by connecting two LED's in series with a resistor to the relay. That can be found here:

Whats happening with the circuit I built is that one of the test LED's is lighting when I supply the recommended 12 Volts, but when I touch the common wire to "E" that LED is suppose to turn off, and the other LED's are suppose to power on due to the relay being energized.

I beg of anyone to take a look at my circuit, and see if any mistakes can be identified. I've been stuck on this for awhile now. Like I said though, I could be wiring the DPDT relay wrong because all I even need is a SPDT relay.

Here is my circuit with the one LED turning on, but it will not turn off when I touch "common" wire and "E" wire. Common wire is red, and "E" wire is green.

After taking the last picture I realized the relay doesn't even have to be connected for the LED to turn on. PLEASE HELP!
 
In your first picture you have what looks like a 470 ohm resistor that is connected to nothing. It's to the left of the relay, below a transistor.
Below that are two diodes the connections of which look suspect too.
 
looks like the green wire from your breadboard goes to button E, the diode to the left of the green wire isnt connected to it, and as house of wax says the diode to the right of it doesnt connect to anything at the top end.
This could well be your problem.

Your circuit wont be affected if you use a spdt or dpdt relay, in aso long as the coil is the right volatge you can use pretty much what you like contact wise.
