what is called equipotential bonding?what is the theory behind it?why the earthing the metal casing of an electrical appliance can prevent the electric shock?
 
so fault current has an easy return to earth, trippin a safety device faster. also if the live does happen to come lose, it will use the earth and trip before you touch it if it wasnt
