This circuit will be helpful to anyone who has to do energy meter testing.
I thank "audioguru" for helping me out in the design.
The voltage can be varied through variac.
The current can be varied(10A max).
The phase of current can be varied.
Thus simulating inductive/capacitive load in lab.
Please suggest if any improvements can be made.
And also any other alternatives for the costly test benches for energy meter.
I think the darlington transistors will melt when they try to dissipate about 100W each. They can dissipate maybe 75W each with a huge heatsink and fan.
Also, the darlington transistors don't have enough current gain when operating at their max current rating.
Parallel some darlington transistors with emitter resistors. Then they will be cooler with much more current gain to do the job. :lol:
