has anyone made the electronic dazer and does it work?

Yes of course it works if you craefully construct it without any mistakes.

i couldnt find a 1200 to 8 ohm audio power transformer. can i use a different transformer?

You can use other transformer but the output voltage will change according to the transformer primary to secondary ratio.
