you can connect it to the mic input of the PC sound card. the body pin is -ve and tip and ring together are +ve pin. as you speak into mic you can manage to record the speech using windows facility.
You could bias an electret mic with a 10k resistor from a filtered 9V battery supply and have it drive an LM386 little power amp that drives a speaker like this:
perhaps he can readily use the facility of Sound card mic section of hos desk or lap top if he has one. Audioguru !
if such facility is not there, then he can use the element suggested as he has to now make it
