I want to design a pc based card and write a suitable program in visual basic which reads distance input from user, and then generates analogue output to a motor driver 0-10 V using the same card, gets feedback using encoder and stops after the required distance.
Could u plz provide reference material , circuits, hints if any.
If this is one of your first projects i'd recomend starting with a microcontroller based motor controller using the serial interface to communicate with a PC. ISA requires detailed knowledge of the bus and driver programming - both complicated. Using a microcontroller you can program your own motor control algorithim which will teach you a lot about how motor control works. A simple PID controller is fairly easy to program. The serial bus (RS232) is also really easy to work with.
