dc to dc converter

Hi! I bought this schematic for an amp from carls electronics. It calls for a 45 volt power source. I could use 2--22.5 batterys, but would like to add the circuits to boost 9 Volt to 45. Could I use diodes or caps to control voltage. Anybody have advice or a schematic, since I am adding this to an existing amp I need to keep the circuits as small as possable. :?

I did not see anything there that I think would work. All I need is a class C amp with a gain of 5X.
