I have a day night timer (3 pin) which works on the following specs: 230V-240V ~ 50Hz, 13(2)A 240V.
I would like to modify this device and make it work with a 12V car battery.

Can someone please guide me through doing this? I am not an electronic expert...only know few basic things about electronics. A step by step help would be appreciated.

a schematic would be nice.
more details as well.
what kind of timer?
sometimes easier to re-engineer something.

Likely, the only part of the existing circuit that is useful for the 12VDC powered circuit is the photo-detector (probably a CDS photo resistor).

It will be like starting from scratch. I would just get a photo-detector from a surplus source and start with that. Google "Light detector circuit"

Cannot find a schematic for this device.
Other details: Plug-in 7 Day Manual Timer, not digital. And uses no light detecting capabilities.

The following link shows the timer that I want to convert: **broken link removed**
