I basically want to transfer blocks of data from the microcontroller to the PC . What I thought of was using the PC parallel port but unable to find interfacing diagrams . If someone could help me it would be great.

Thanx

I think most folks use the serial port. It's pretty easy, basically just a MAX232 or similar chip talking to a microcontroller serial line. There are diagrams in the application notes for most microcontrollers, or check Motorola's site. If you get keen you could use a Lantronix XPort instead (uses an Ethernet connection).
