Crystal Frequency Measurement Issue

I am workimg on project of electronic energy meter with ADE7166.
Using a quartz 32768 external crystal. have used two 22pf load capacitors for crystal.

While measuring the crystal ferquency using a digital oscilloscope the chip is getting sut down, with switch off the display module. Power supply output is healty with 3.3V but micro getting switch off.

what exactly is happening???Kindly suggest...and how to overcome...

The extra loading of the scope probe could stop the xtal oscillating are you using a *10 probe, these are better for scoping xtals.
