I have a machine like the one above but connected to my 'puter. I use it to make custom lettering and insignias. It works quite well and quickly. Amazing to watch it cut out a complex insignia.
That is an awfully good price for a vinyl cutter compared to what I paid for a Roland Dr. Stika several years ago. But then, I also remember paying $$$ for a laser jet.
It looks like it uses the "standard" triangular knife. Is the feed straight enough to handle a PCB?

I placed the object size in the file nameRe: Import SVG button and import SVG at original size

Here's another workaround for the sizing issue, which works better for me since I spend a lot of time in Inkscape anyway:
After you create an SVG file that you want to cut, bring up the document properties dialog in Inkscape (ctrl+shift+d). In the part labeled "custom size", Inkscape will show you the current size of the page outline (changes the units to "inches" for simplicity.) Do a "select all" on the objects and then use the "fit page to selection" button to make the page outline exactly equal to the size of your objects. Don't forget to save the file once you've done this.
The custom size numbers are what you want to enter in SCAL for the size of the object when you import the SVG. Do this for each SVG in the group and everything will be correctly proportioned.
I have no idea if anyone other them me gives a rip but it is still a good place to record the info.
I would think this should be of more general interest. Even people who have their boards made still have to build them.Actually, I find your ventures into this area interesting and refreshing. Please continue to keep us updated.
