Controller to mux ic

New Member
I am making an application where i need to select the devices connected to mux through the controller. Is it possible to directly connect the I/O port of controller to the mux ic select lines?
I am using 89c51. and also suggest me 16:1 mux-demux(combined or seperate) IC.
