Hello,

my laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15IRH Gaming) ethernet port died. Out of warranty. I have good soldering skills and I want to replace the faulty ethernet port. Can you help me with list of HW compatible & size compatible ethernet ports? Motherboard: lnvnb161216

USB external ethernet is out of question (low on USB ports).

Why not use the wifi, it is AC4 compatible, which will give good speeds. It may be cheaper to get/upgrade your wifi router to a high end model than trying to fix an ethernet board on a laptop.
You can also use a USB hub to expand your USB ports, and then still have one to use a USB to Ethernet adapter as well.

Unless the socket is physically damaged, it's most likely an electronics failure? Or just a dry joint from flexing over time.

Looking at a spare main board on ebay, it's a bit of an oddball connector that fits in a cutout of the PCB. I can't see anything like it at any seller, so far.

Is this the same board as yours?

You can get adapters to fit M.2 slots, which could possibly replace the WiFi module?? It very much depends how the socket is configured, as some M.2 sockets only have USB while other can have PCIe lanes. You would need an adapter with the correct interface.

eg.

Which looks suspiciously similar to this -
