What are some of the best websites for purchasing small, basic components on the net? Mostly I'm looking for a bunch of capacitors, and a bunch of resistors... Cheap shipping is a must.

Thanks in advance

Might help if you had entered your location in your personal details!, not much point suggesting websites in a completely different country? - not if you want cheap shipping!.

In the US, Newark Electronics or Mouser Electronics are very good, so is Digi-key Electronics. Just google for the websites.

A lot of both exotic and sundry components can be found in surplus:

http://www.jameco.com/

Check prices on them. Most stuff is outrageously good deals, but sometimes they sell stuff that could be had cheaper- or a better product at a similar price- from Digikey or Mouser.

Lots of resistors and caps can be found for pennies on the dollar.

Wow! Thanks for all the great suggestions... I'm in Canada, sorry I forgot to tell you before.

JAMECO!!!!Jameco is the best dam site for buying electronics online there the cheapest and have cheap shipping

ex: 1.00=100resistors!!!!!

Kind of an important detail if you want cheap shipping ;)

In maple syrup country, you have these :

http://www.e-sonic.com/ (decent prices)
http://www.master-vox.com/ (annoying frenglish website, but good service)
**broken link removed** (good online prices, just don't go in one of their retail stores, they sell at outrageous prices)
and http://www.Digi-Key.ca which is in the US but includes duty and taxes in their online prices! Now that's great customer service.

I'll add my Canadian 2 cents...

Digikey gets most of my business. Overnight delivery, even when I have ordered at 4pm the day before, great prices, cheap shipping ( I usually pay 7 dollars .) I can get it all at one place, excellent online database with current prices and inventory, great selection from resistors to embedded sytems etc, etc.

Electrosonic used to get most of my business, but I find for what I order, they don't have stock, and the lead times can be just rediculous. They seem to cater mostly towards the industrial/factory sector now, so if you need more along these lines, you are OK. I can drive to Electrosonic, it's 15 minutes from me, but their delivery rate is more than Digikeys from the USA, and the prices are not always competitive.

Active has good deals on equipment, and tools, have used them for some components, not bad. Mostly I have dealt with their once parent company Future. If you pick and choose carefully, their prices are not bad. They seem to have tried to grab the general component business Electrosonic is ignoring.

I think they are now under Allied Electronics control...

What part of bacon-on-pizza country are you from? :p

Ahhh the return of Nigel's pet hate - people who don't enter location details into their profile :D

YES! 8)

It really bugs me! - people can't be bothered to enter their location, yet so many questions they ask are affected by their location. People who enter stupid locations, in an attempt to be funny, are even worse!.

Didn't know that... One thing they do need to do is fix their website ( Active ) the search function is frustrating, probably part of the reason I don't do so much business with them anymore.

Toronto, located in the province where we get our beer from https://www.thebeerstore.ca/ :D I should really update my location! LOL
