What is the difference between aa cells sub c cells and others?

Would it be ok and work just as long if i used aa cells for something that needs sub-c cells? (if i used the right volts and mah)

An AA cell is small. If it is Ni-MH then its capacity is 2500mAh.
A sub-C cell is larger than an AA cell so it contains more goodies and therefore a Ni-mH cell has a capacity of 4500mAh.

The chemistry determines the voltage.
The mAh determines how long a charge lasts powering a certain load.

pls. spell "AA" if it is convenient

while adverts sometimes use completely small letters (or alternatively, capitalize the whole slogan), I have never come accross "aa" batteries.
