I like to build a 12V DC/ 230V AC 50Hz inverter. Before building I have some basic questions to ask.

What I know is an inverter consist of 4 basic stages.

*Oscillator
*Amplification
*Filter
*Transformer

In oscillator stage do I need to generate a sine wave or a square wave?
Why you selected that particular wave form?

Thanks
