I am looking for help in either keywords or something similar that I could do searches on, possibly to find more info on a circuit I would like to build.

The basic idea is to have a stopwatch at 0 seconds and as soon as something generates a 5-volt pulse, start the stopwatch (by running the start/stop button to the circuit). Run it until ~580 0 to 5V pulses have been counted.

Through some info, it appears the LM339 from national.com would work for the 0 to 5 volt sensing...

Like I mentioned, if anyone is familar with more technical terms on schematics I should be looking for, I would be appreciative.
