audio amp lm386n- circuit suggestions

I am trying to build a hydrophone using lm386n-400mw chip. I have various condensor mic elements and piezoelectric buzzers to use as input mics. The hydrophone will be used for dolphin (high end of the audio spectrum) sounds. Can someone help me with a circuit hopefully using the piezo elements, as they have much more surface area for sound pickup and may be easier to waterproof.

Are these sounds simple waveforms or complex?

What amplitude?
