My question here does not match the title of this post because I changed my question.

Do I need an attenuator to communicate a headphone jack with a microphone jack on separate devices? I'm trying to communicate a pair of LBC6K - Laser Beam Audio Communicators (described at **broken link removed**) with - if a Razor USB Pointed Earbud has a microphone, a pair of Razor USB Pointed Earbuds (described at **broken link removed**) - so that I can allow two hosts to communicate with a laser beam.
