ATmega8... what can you do with it????

Hello

I have been given 5 atmega8's i have them connected to avrisp and signatures read in AVR studio. All i need is a HEX file to load onto them and circuit schematics on cool stuff to make with them.

I Origonally wanted to make a 3x3x3 LED cube but the guy wont give me the HEX code

i searched but my stupidity would not allow me to find stuff to make. Basically want the best popular circuit that pushes what this microcontroller can do.

Maybe a lock or something wird
