Atmega 16L is the same as atmega 16?

I purchased an Atmel ATmega16. It reads 16L on the face of the MC. Is it the same as 16? Or will it have a separate datasheet? I googled up but could not find any. 16L is not on the atmel's website either...

The (L) is low power ... only up to 8mhz but can run on 2.7V.. The non (L) version is capable of Xtal's up to 16mhz and can only run at 5V +- 0.5V

Thanks, didn't know that.

In that case, wouldn't Atmega 16A be the best? It has a clock of 0-16MHz and an operational voltage of 2.7 - 5.5. Does Atmega 16A lack any important feature that 16 has?

It seems the difference between mega16 and mega16a is down to power consumption again... the a is the newer device and consumes half the power.
