I'm just an EE student, but I'd say keeping up with this forum is a full-time job. Heh heh...Hmmmmm. :?

Anyway, speaking of full-timers: Nigel has 10,010 posts now. I think that's binary for "Holy crap, I've got a lot of posts!"

A 'professional' is someone who get paid a lot of money for things he/she did.

To be a 'professional' in the EE field is not difficult, just apply for a full/senior/fellow membership of some international recognised institutions like IEE in the UK and IEEE in the States as a start.

Of course people who are not themselves 'professional' would discredit those who do but hey at the end of the day its the money that matters.

Not a 'lot' any amount of payment for services rendered makes you 'professional' - consider those young ladies on street corners with short skirts, they aren't called 'pros' for nothing  (not that they don't make a lot of money!).

How does paying money to IEE or IEEE make you professional in any way?.

Don't know. But as long as the employer is paying these fees, and a lot more to the employee, it can't be wrong.
