A few examples are: The PICKit 2 Logic Tool Swordfish Guide - PICKit 2 and UART Not Quite Trivial - A Tip for using the Software UART with the PICKit 2 Quick Tips for PICkit Programmers Video - PICKit 2 Breakout Board Here are a couple applications where the PICkit came in handy: External Interrupts: Interfacing a Scroll-Wheel Switch Garmin 18XLVC & PICKit 2 UART Tool The logic analyzer and UART tool are my reason for recommending a PICkit 2 over the PICkit 3. There was a huge outcry when the "new and improved" PICkit was introduced at a higher price and lacking useful features. They've been promised for the future. Check out Dave Jones review of the PICkit 3, and Microchip's humorous response.
