Anti-Static for clothing

Is there a substance or treatment or appartus i can use to make clothing not have static cling, and not have little bits of lint or hair stick to them?

There is an anti static spray that stops dust sticking to TV screens and such, maybe that would work. I doubt it would be a long term cure since it eventually dries up.

Seems to me that the anti-static properties are precisely the claim that many fabric softener manufacturers make. Take a look in the grocery store.
