dear sir:

has anyone managed to make a 16x2 lcd display work with a zilog 1621 microcontroller? if yes, can you please send me a copy of your working program and some connections for me to work with..

thanks a lot in advance..

I just googled for zilog info. Wow! There's nothing. Doesn't seem to be a very popular MCU, on the web anyway.

Have you used any other brands of microcontrollers? Writing LCD code isn't terribly difficult. For example, say you know a little about PICs. You could take some PIC code and use it to help you understand what you need to do.

Here's some good LCD info links:

This two part article is a must read:

can the pic MCU handle GSM module (BENQ 2300), a 16 x 2 LCD display and a GPS module?
Unknown. I googled Benq 2300 GSM and get cameras and cell phones. The LCD is no problem for any microcontroller.

What are you planning to make?

i'm planning to make a locator device.. the GPS module would be our way to get our longhitudinal and latitude distance and the gsm module would be the one to send the message and relay it to its recievers plus the lcd would display the said longhitude and latitude distance..

Shouldn't be hard to do since most GPS output EIA-422A NEMA strings at 4800 baud which is compatible with RS232. As for the LCD, choose one based on the HD44780 which is a very common LCD controller. Google found an ap note about interfacing an LCD to a Z8:
