Flyback

Well-Known Member
Hi,
We're doing a 90W Quasi resonant Flyback, its just for a test jig....Vin = 400VDC, vout = 60V.
We want to use all PTH components.
Do you think this will be OK?
F(sw) is 80kHz. We will RC filter the Axial primary current sense resistor.....but the RC filter will be thru hole too.

This flyback sits on a big 4kW main SMPS board....and its got heavy stuff on it, so we cant have SMD on it...we could have a daughter board for the controller circuitry...but thats more effort which seems unecessary.....also, the controller is NCP1378.....and if we use an SMD daughter board, then the noisy bias switching node has to be routed to the daughter board, which will cause noise issues of its own.....

...so are we ok going all PTH?
