I am trying to make an output display register for my SAP-1. (An 8 bit bread board computer made from 74xxx logic chips.) I need to take an 8bit binary input and convert it to 3 x 7 segment displays.
I was thinking of some kind of 24 bit EPROM that I could program with every possible 8 bit Binary Input / 3x7 Segment Outputs. Of course that would take over 30 (36) pins, so I am probably on the wrong track here.

This is a video of my current SAP-1
