how do you change the frequency of 2 way radios?

It depends entirely on the design, often they can only be altered over a small fixed range - on older sets by changing crystals, on more modern ones by altering the PLL system, often by reprogramming PROM's or other such devices.

You need specific details for your exact make and model!.

Nigels right , it depends on the radio type. I have one that's programmable thru the keypad, one that needs a pc and programming software and an oldie that needs the proper crystal plugged into it..Let us know what you have and maybe we can help...

Some radios can be configured from the keypad, or by changing crystals, or whatever. If it's a newer, higher end Motorola or Kenwood or such, you will need to have the radio's programming software (running on a PC or Mac), a radio interface box (or RIB) and the appropriate programming cable to connect to the radio.
