I have 2 bios chips as follows:

chip #1: Winbond W29EE011-15
chip #2: MX 28F1000PL

I found datasheets for both chips. If you search for chip #2, omit the PL.
According to the datasheets, the only difference I can find between the two chips is that on one chip, pin 1 has no connection, and on the other, pin 1 is the programming voltage. Both chips are 128K of memory.

I am wondering if I can use the winbond chip in place of the MX chip, or is there such a significant difference between the two, that if I switch them, I could blow the replacement chip up?
