16F628/12F675 and SPI sensor

I would like to read the temp into either PIC. (Part of a weather station project)

The sensor TC72, uses SPI. Is it reasonable to write code to communicate
with SPI sensors. Transmission speed is not important.

Nigel has tutorials communicating with LCDs and I2C devices but have not found SPI examples.
