Hi Guys
I have a magnificent 130 volt ¼ HP DC motor with gearbox but live in Europe with 220v ac mains supply.
I want to build a variable speed control/psu for it and definitely not burn out this motor.
I propose to use a bridge rectifier which would give me aprox 310v full wave rectified o/p. This is a long way from 130v. I suspect that even if I were to chop it I fear that the insulation may break down. A transformer is out due to cost. The circuit should be as simple as possible. Any suggestions?
Many thanks for your interest.
Regards
