dhyaks New Member Aug 17, 2014 #2 try DC step down converter... for higher Current rating just coupling any power transistor. like 2N3055 try LM317 instead.

It'd be better to use a SMPS / buck converter, e.g. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Waterpr...Down-Converter-Module-Car-Power-/141074760812 or **broken link removed** which supply up to 10A @ 5V, and are cheap.
