12 volt to 240 volt invertor

yes. 4 work onsite to provide power for my tools when mains power is temporary not available. highest power tool will be my drill at 800W. other than that, it will be used at home for if there is a power failure
 
A small engined generator might be better
on a building site.

Honda do quite small units,
they look like about one kilowatt.

id rather have an inverter.... just bought a 1kw inverter from ebay....
