Learning a lot here. I started on brush motors since I heard years ago now that they were good to use(though not the extent of reasoning why) and easily available.
To refine I want to work with electric generating motors that would be worth long term use, worth buying, and if bought how to...
I want a mobile computer but a battery isn't a concern. I have an old laptop that the battery is dead in. I can use it connected to a charger but after the flaming battery scare is that safe?
So I'm looking at an led and there is an NPN in the circuit. I really wrested with why. Research makes me think that the NPN is used as a switch in the circuit so a cheaper/lower quality push button switch can be used, reducing manufacturing costs. Am I right or possible missing something?
Your best application, fix, (re)build, modification and so on. How has the skill been useful to you?
I'm interested as a hobby but it's getting a little pricey and I'm curious the kinds of fruits this could bear,
My salvage options are pretty dry right now. A complication I'm having looking in stores is there is a lot of electric motors that don't easily say what kind of motor they are.
Reply well to start just some leds. How newb friendly would it be to get a higher amp motor, then practice stepping it down? I'm not familiar with them but there seems to be adjustable breaker switches, could that be a protective step to prevent burning out parts?
I want to play with getting electricity out of a dc motor. Power a few LEDs, be handy if I could take it apart and practice motor maintenance and brush replacement. Tips on what to look for?
Two different metal rods (I use scrap copper wire and aluminum cans with the plastic seal sanded off) in wet dirt. Roughly a volt per battery, amperage depends on the size of the rods, closer together without touching the better. I can get volts in series no problem. Amps are my big hurdle at 200μA
So I have an old cellphone and charger that I'ld like to charge off of earth batteries. Not practical but an amusing project. Advice on how to proceed?
Newb question,
Even if it isn't enough voltage could a capacitor store up current over time and intermitently release pulses of volts to charge the battery?
