PWM replacement for car lighting dimmer

VW used 100 Hz, with 10% duty cycle on their tail lights. That gave gaps of 9 ms. That was considerably worse for following drivers than 30% at 256 Hz, which would have been gaps of 2.7 ms.

PWM replacement for car lighting dimmer

Make sure you test them in similar conditions to where they will be used. Looking directly at lights will not detect flicker nearly as well as in other conditions. (Edit: just noticed this is a repeat of what ZipZapOuch said)

PWM replacement for car lighting dimmer

That depends on the LED lamps. The LEDs themselves can be dimmed by reducing the current. The LED lamps will have some sort of driver to limit the current, and how those will behave with a reduced current or voltage is anyone's guess. Also they may work OK with PWM, but some designs just won't...

PWM replacement for car lighting dimmer

My immediate red flag is that changing to PWM and to LEDs will mean that the dashboard lights will be flashing at the PWM frequency. You are then relying on the slowness of response of your eyes rather to smooth out the flashing. In situations where the eye is moving across a flashing light...

    Wierd makita battery

On another forum I heard that Makita packs do run some electronics from just one cell, and it does lead to discharging of that cell. Worse, repeated attempts to charge a battery pack that has one cell low will cause the electronics to decide to brick itself. A battery that is in that state...

Wish to buy Battery, Charger and Buck converter for 12V , 2A router

You could also run the router directly from the car battery.

    How to make string LEDs?

LED strings are almost always in series to get the total voltage of the LEDs near the supply voltage. For instance, 12 V strings will have three LEDs in series, and a resistor to control the current. LED lamps that run at 220 Vac contain rectifiers and many, many LEDs in series to get a large...

Selection Guidelines - Convert DC Wall Wart to AC Wall Wart

The only think that I would say is that regulated, linear supplies exist, and they do not meet the point about the unloaded voltage. Switch mode supplies never have such large output voltages, linear ones often do.

Selection Guidelines - Convert DC Wall Wart to AC Wall Wart

You can also measure the open circuit voltage. If the open-circuit voltage is maybe 40% higher than the rated voltage, it's almost certain to be a linear, unregulated supply. Switch-mode supplies are always regulated so the no-load output voltage is very close to the rating. There are regulated...

Selection Guidelines - Convert DC Wall Wart to AC Wall Wart

This is the main thing to look for, the weight. Linear power supplies that use line-frequency transformers are heavy. They are also increasingly rare.

    Epson crystal oscillators

I would guess that is the driver failure. They might all be electronic failures, as there is an oscillator part and a driver part. An electronic failure in the oscillator would be difficult or impossible to distinguish from a crystal failure without opening one up. Have you cut open a dead one...

    Epson crystal oscillators

I used to work for a company that made the metal-cased ones, like this:- https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/crystal-oscillators/7960520 We bought the bases and added the crystals, adjusted the frequency and welded the lid on. It allowed custom frequencies is a couple of days. Anyhow, we very, very...

    FFC connector white

Basically, yes. Scrape the insulation off on the side that looks like it has thinner insulation, and solder a bit of wire across the gap.

Those can be repaired if you are careful. I don't know where to buy one from.

    FFC connector white

I think that type doesn't open. You just need to push the flat cable back in.
